We are now in the early stages of developing panels for our 2008 surveys, with publication dates of July-August of 2008. Surveyed data will be based on 2007 results. All together, 45 health plans participated in last year’s studies, up from 42 in the prior year.
In exchange for your participation, we offer deeply discounted access to the benchmarking study for your universe and discounts on other universes as well. In addition, your health plans results are highlighted in your reports.
Universes include Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans, Independent Provider Sponsored Plans, Medicaid Plans, Larger Plans and Medicare Advantage focused plans. We are also considering other universes including those serving individual and small groups and larger independent health plans. Our universes provide a uniquely robust sample size.
The continuity of our universes benefits the members. Of the plans participating in 2006, 71% participated in 2007, and most of those who declined to participate were unable to because of business combinations, major restructurings or information systems changes. At this early stage, 80% of plans participating in 2007 have confirmed participation in 2008. In two of the universes, more than 91% of the plans have confirmed participation. We think this is an indicator of the satisfaction of our participants and an indicator of the quality of information supplied by the plans themselves.
The survey materials are distributed in March and are to be returned to us in late May or early June. We support your completion of the survey materials through extensive and searchable documentation, annotated survey instruments, an interactive forum and, of course, we welcome your emails and calls.
